They would prefer to

They would prefer to meet people who are attracted to the type of person they are rather than people who are just attracted to a physical description. This is a very valid point. But unfortunately it may work to your disdvantage.

If you do not put some type of physical description of yourself in your ad, your readers may conclude that you have something to hide or you may be unattractive and so you may lose some of the people who might have responded to your ad. A very general description will suffice eg. attractive, 30 something single mom or single male, 28, black hair, blue eyes. You do not have to profess that your are Christie Brinkley or Mel Gibson Remember be honest.

Too often we’ve

July 31st, 2010

Too often we’ve set up reward systems that create the work problems we face. And too often, the behaviors that exasperate us are the ones we’re unknowingly reinforcing.

Say a local pizza company decides to reward drivers for on-time delivery. Sounds good, but in actuality, they’d be rewarding speeding and reckless driving. Here’s an example from Management Review, “A freight company that based its reward system on the number of packages shipped thought productivity was way up until an internal audit revealed that only 45% of the containers were shipped full.”

How about the Texas school system making recent news? It thought it was rewarding teachers for raising test scores.

Honeywell Micro-Grid Technology to Help U.S. Army Lower Fuel

Honeywell Micro-Grid Technology to Help U.S. Army Lower Fuel

0 Comments | U.S. Newswire, Jun 16, 2010

PHOENIX, June 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced today that it is developing emerging Micro-Grid technology to increase efficiency and reduce fossil fuel consumption in remote U.S. Army locations.

“Honeywell’s Micro-Grid technology system will be the first to bring modern-day technology currently used in developed cities, including solar power, to isolated Army locations,” said Bob Smith, chief technology officer at Honeywell Aerospace. “Based on projections, the Army could realize fuel savings of up to 60 percent because of this system.”

The U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research Development Engineering Center (TARDEC) awarded Honeywell the cost-plus fixed fee $4.6 million contract for delivery, testing and demonstration of the Micro-Grid at Wheeler Air Base, Hawaii, for 18 months of performance with 12 months of operation and evaluation, beginning in September 2010.

Utilizing this system will enable the Army to decrease the number or size – and in some cases, both – of generators needed. The Micro- Grid can also interface and control legacy generators. Additionally, it will provide electrical energy autonomy in remote locations and improve power availability.

The mobility of the Micro-Grid will help improve warfighter safety in remote locations because of reduced fuel consumption, which decreases the number of convoys needed.

The Micro-Grid also minimizes power outages. The system enables load prioritization so if an overload occurs, rather than the entire generator shutting down, a lower priority load will be temporarily removed until adequate power is available.

Advanced energy storage will build further capability to use renewable energy sources. Micro-grids, renewable energy and plug-in electric vehicles offer a unique solution to address both energy security and fossil fuel consumption reduction goals.

Well laid out,

July 29th, 2010

Well laid out, illustrated step-by-step guide to woodcraft plans is a relatively new phenomenon. Wood crafting is an ancient hobby and evidence can be seen in the remains of legendry Thujate’ Indians and from the excavations from ancient sites. These woodcrafts also followed some sort of woodcraft plans but they were only in the minds of the craftsmen before they took the final shape. They were devoid of modern day sophisticated tools or machinery. Now days, there are many tools that aid the craftsman in wood working.

Sophistication has slowly crept into woodcraft, and now woodcraft has grown beyond the realm of pastime activity, and has blossomed into a major industry. Woodcraft professionals across America now have a chance to gauge their skills against fellow woodcrafters. Professional woodcraft plans now describe how to create a wine rack, bookshelf, birdhouse or even a wooden pen-stand that makes a perfect gift item.

We are living in

July 29th, 2010

We are living in a world of different races having different interests and ways of life. In electronic commerce, where businesses are operated via the worldwide Internet, there are a lot of varieties a merchant may bump into.

A relevant one is that nations vary in terms of their currency – U.S. dollars, Euros, pounds, Swiss francs ? and also their mode of payment ? checks, postal orders, credit cards, direct debit and bank transfers.

You can select from any of these payment methods depending on what you sell, your medium of selling and your target countries. Sometimes in order to broaden your audience range, you need to offer your customers several, if not all, of these modes, weighing up the choices that best fit their preferences. However, you also need to ensure that your customer won?t find converting their method of payment to cash is too difficult.

In this regard, you can think of getting a merchant account that operates internationally.

Colliery checks; Your say

Colliery checks; Your say

Comments | Evening Gazette (Middlesbrough, England), July 17, 2010

I WAS a miner in the Yorkshire pits for 33 years and have now retired. For the past several years by way of a hobby I have been an avid collector of colliery checks, tallies or tokens.

These were brass discs and were embossed with the individual colliery name and stamped with the miner’s number. They were used as a safety measure to record an accurate account of men underground at any one time.

Unfortunately, though, I have very few from the old North-east pits.

Though they are long gone, these tokens still turn up in the bottom of a drawer or sewing box and I wonder if any fellow ex-miners or indeed any of your readers who could please help me obtain any checks/tokens from the now long closed North-east collieries? and, while we are,Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you.

All this does is

July 29th, 2010

All this does is help the reader pronounce your address. If they ever posted you anything the postman will be scratching his/her head.

6 – It can be useful to transliterate names including company names. This then helps the receiver pronounce them properly.

7 ? Make sure numbers are arranged in the correct format. For example, if for any reason you need to write a date on a business card consider the local equivalent for dates ? i.e. in Europe dates are written as date/month/year or in the Islamic world the Hijri calendar is used.

8 ?Ensure you use the correct language when having your business card translated. If you are travelling to China you would need Simplified Chinese, whereas if you were travelling to Taiwan you would need Traditional Chinese. Similar differences exist in many parts of the world where language may have political consequences, i.e.

NOT on what

July 29th, 2010

NOT on what you don’t
want. Whatever you focus on you will be guaranteed to attract.

Your thoughts are truly the most powerful weapon you have in
creating the kind of life you desire!

Discover what it is you want your life to look like, then learn how
to set goals and go after them. Self help is exactly that: helping
your “self” in having a better life.

Ending a relationship is difficult. You are going through a lot right
now. So, take it a day a time and make sure your tomorrows are
better by taking the steps today to improve your life.

Nobody said it was going to be easy. You know the saying, “Breaking-up
is hard to do?” Well, if you think that’s hard, most people find
learning to “forgive” even harder to do.

People come into our lives for all different reasons. And each person
that touches our lives usually comes bearing a gift. Generally that
gift is in the form of a lesson we need to learn.

Some lessons are harder than others.
